Artist Statement
The works in No/where Now/here are part of an on-going body of work that has developed out of the experience of my mother’s death. Death robs one of the sight and touch of someone, but their absence is their presence, a space both empty and full is opened that seems more visceral than former physicalities. One is unable to grasp it, but feels it. The works in this exhibition, both paintings and ceramics are an attempt to understand and articulate this space. The process of these works is laboured and layered, one gets lost in the making. They are substance and nothingness; representation is an aside. They are what is left of memory, and making.
